Waterdown Montessori School has educated thousands of children from the Hamilton-Burlington-Waterdown-Flamborough areas across a span of more than three decades. Our prestigious school is a true CCMA-accredited Montessori institute to the core – from our staff to our materials and curriculum.

Located on the grounds of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Waterdown Montessori school sits on the cusp of the Iroquoia section of the Bruce Trail. This scenic location allows students to bring learning outside and explore the world around them. From treks to visit the neighbouring Newfoundland ponies to spotting white-tailed deer, centuries old trees and a variety of insects and birds right outside our classrooms, our students truly do learn on nature’s doorstep.

Our low student-teacher ratios allow our teachers to assist each and every student in reaching his or her full potential and to foster a love for learning and thirst for knowledge that will remain for years to come. Our staff, board members and families are all highly invested in our students’ futures and there’s a true sense of community at Waterdown Montessori School that is rare at larger schools.

We offer a toddler program for children aged 18 months to three years. This program encourages sensorial learning and focuses on the development of fine and gross motor skills to prepare children for the next step in Montessori learning – the Casa program. Our Casa program is for children aged three to six years old and offers an opportunity to educate the whole child through engaging and stimulating materials and classroom interactions. We also offer a nutritious snack and lunch program and before/after school care.

Our exclusive curriculum, which focuses on active learning, gives children the opportunity to learn and explore in an nurturing and supportive environment that engages all of their senses. Students choose hands-on materials from practical life, sensorial, mathematics, language/literacy, cultural and creative areas and work under the guidance of our experienced and knowledgeable Montessori teachers. French, music and yoga are also parts of our exclusive CCMA-accredited curriculum.

Our son loves it here and we are looking forward to a bright future at Waterdown Montessori. We especially love it because there is a toddler program for our youngest when he becomes of age. The grounds are breathtaking and perfect for curious little minds that want to learn about nature.

The staff are competent, very caring and attentive. The school is being led by a new principal with a great track record, who is very committed to her pupils and the success of the school.

A gem in Waterdown!

My daughter (2 years old) at bedtime –

“Mom, we fed the horses today!”

My son (4 years old) still in bed waking up –

“Mom, where is my D-ring and my rope? I want to take it for show and tell”.

My children are very different people. And to find the enthusiasm and excitement for each day in both of them is a pretty good start to my day and a pretty good end to it too.
Thank you WMS it’s going to be a good year!

I consider my children and this school my best investment. Small class sizes and that extra attention
at this fundamental time is important to my children’s future. They have the time and opportunity to let children grow and learn at their own pace.

A wonderful school community following the true Montessori philosophy. A great place to start your child’s education.
