| The Elementary Programme | |
| Art Athletics / Physical Education Culture Music Second Language | In the WMS Elementary Programme, the children work on a variety of projects that spark the imagination and engage the intellect. Lessons direct the children toward activities that help them develop intellectually and children continue to progress at their own pace in an environment that nurtures the love of learning. They are exposed to many complex concepts at an early age through the use of wonderful concrete learning materials. As the "rational mind" begins functioning from ages 6-12, the child can learn many facts abstractly - how our earth was formed and the different areas of study that arise from a man's observation of his environment: geology, botany, zoology, earth history; and his culture: art, music, civilization and so on. The children's own questions provide the basis for exploration of the world. The children are allowed to work at their own pace and the multi-age groupings provide more opportunities for grouping according to ability and interest. To enhance physical development, the elementary children are enrolled in swimming lessons and gymnastics. They are taken in small groups out of the classroom to have French three times per week and music once per week, both taught by qualified teachers. |
