Our annual Pancake Breakfast with Santa took place on Saturday, December 10 this year. Once again Santa was able to make time in his busy schedule to pay a special visit to Waterdown Montessori School. An enthusiastic set-up crew had everything ready with time to spare. As usual there was plenty of food, fun and fellowship. Thanks to Mrs. Katia, children (and adults too!) were kept busy painting a variety of festive ceramics in the craft room. We had a one-of-a-kind gingerbread lighthouse for a raffle, thanks to a creative parent. There was a steady stream of children waiting to have their picture taken with Santa, so our photographer was kept very busy! And when everyone had had their fill, the cleanup elves worked their magic, tidying everything away. Thank you, everyone!

Our Monthly Parent/Caregiver Coffee Club

Please join other parents/caregivers in the WMS French room for some fresh hot coffee and treats along with the opportunity to get to know one another, engage in some informal chat and discuss WMS current events and latest newsletter. The focus will be on the informal chat!

It was the day before Hallowe’en, and the halls of WMS were filled with witches and warlocks, princesses and dragons as families arrived for our Hallowe’en pancake breakfast! An enthusiastic set up crew arrived at 8:00 am sharp and had everything ready to go in good time. The chefs were kept hopping as plates were filled. Friends chatted, parents of classmates introduced themselves, and a good time was had by all! Thanks to Katia Gustafson, children had the opportunity to paint some pottery if they chose to do so. At the end of the morning an efficient clean up crew had everything back in its place in record time. Thank you, everyone!
Our annual Children’s Harvest Luncheon took place on Friday October 7. Parents contribute food for a harvest-themed potluck lunch. Volunteers help to turn the gym into a festive buffet. As the children file into the gym, parents help with choosing and serving. Older students give a hand to their younger schoolmates until at long last it is their turn. We are very grateful to the parents who packed up the leftovers and delivered them to a food bank.

Our first field trip is scheduled for October 26. We will be traveling by bus to Frootogo Orchard on Parkside Drive in Waterdown.

Our new after school pottery classes have been very popular! The first session is drawing to a close, but a second session is being offered starting in April. This experience is open to children age 5 and up; children from outside the school are welcome to attend.
